Lee College Cheer is looking for those who have prior experience in cheerleading, dance, gymnastics, tumbling, etc. But even if you have no prior experience, you are still more than welcome to sign up for tryouts.
Tryouts for the 2025-2026 Lee College Cheer team have passed. We expect to hold additional tryouts at the end of August, once school has resumed for the fall semester.
Tryouts will consist of cheers/chants, motions, standing tumbling, running tumbling, jumps, and stunting. If you do not possess one of these skills, please focus on doing your best in what you prepare. These will be scored and evaluated by the head cheer coach and one or two judges. Scores will be tallied and discussed among the judges, and the team will be formed based on what is seen.
Items that will be scored/evaluated
- Ability
- The actual skill portion of tryouts will be based on what is performed by each individual participant.
- Attitude
- Having a good attitude and showing a fun and bright personality is what we seek for the Lee College Cheer team.
- Voice
- How clearly the participant can say the cheers/chants and how their voice projects and carries
- Presentation
- How you come dressed or hold yourself during tryouts.
- Interview
- A brief interview (1-2 questions) will be part of tryouts, to assess personality, communication, and how you present yourself. Cheerleaders represent the program publicly, so confidence and interaction skills matter.
Bring
- A completed physical from your doctor
Wear
- Athletic/workout attire
- School colors encouraged (red, gray, white, black)
- Black or white shorts
- Athletic shoes (cheer shoes preferred, if you have them)
- Minimal jewelry
Appearance
- Clean, game-day-ready look
- Hair pulled back (half up/half down or ponytail recommended)
Grooming
- Neat, performance-ready appearance
- Facial hair should be clean-shaven or well-groomed
Come dressed as though you're already part of the team and ready to perform. Focus on bringing confidence, high energy, and a positive attitude, and give your best effort from start to finish. Don't be afraid to stand out — performance quality, attitude, and effort matter just as much as skill.
